What PlaySpellBee is
PlaySpellBee is a free daily word game built around a seven-letter hive. Every puzzle asks you to find words that contain the center letter, then rewards longer words and pangrams.
We create our own daily and unlimited puzzles from a redistributable American English word list. Puzzle dates, accepted words, scoring, and the dictionary version are recorded so each game can be reproduced.
How puzzles are made
- One original daily puzzle shared by every player
- Unlimited puzzles for extra practice
- Seven unique letters with one required center letter
- At least one pangram and 20 to 60 accepted words
- American English entries from SCOWLv2 release 2026.02.25 under its BSD-compatible licensing terms
- Lowercase words only, with names, punctuation, abbreviations, and offensive entries excluded
- Automated checks for scoring, duplicates, required letters, and pangrams
Editorial responsibility
Every published daily puzzle receives human review of its hive, center letter, pangrams, scoring, and accepted-word list. Published puzzle details include a stable puzzle ID and dictionary version so the exact challenge can be identified later.
